Great Bedwyn School Association
Local Community Partner
Great Bedwyn School Association (GBSA) aims to enrich the experience of our children by fundraising for equipment and experiences that go above and beyond what the school budget can provide.
In recent years, GBSA has helped to equip the new school library, installed an amazing new outdoor play area, funded a gazebo and purchased two new bike/scooter pods for children to use.
Why are we getting involved?
Last year has been difficult for everyone; there’s been uncertainty and worry, but as we emerge from this period we want to learn lessons from it and carry forward a message of hope and positivity.
The GBSA will be fundraising for a number of projects to support the mental and physical well-being of the children – now and in the years to come.
What are we doing?
In 2021, Ben Burch (who grew up here, and is the uncle of Barnaby (Year 3) and Jemima (Year 1) Wilson ) will be running for 12 hours, non-stop in 12 different locations in across the UK. He's doing this to raise funds for ‘Samaritans’ and Community Partners in each locality. We are delighted that Ben has chosen the GBSA to be one of his local Community Partners.
In support of Ben, GBSA are setting our own sponsored fun-run on the 29th March - “run or walk as far as we can”. The route loop is between Great and Little Bedwyn. It’s 5km long – so we’re calling on all parents (and teachers), to join in for a lap.. or two.. or maybe more. Children can run/walk with their parents, or join in for a partial loop. Let’s see how far we can go together! If we can all get a little sponsorship, then together we can make a really big difference.
We look forward to seeing as many of you out and about during the day and after school. The route goes past the school, Ben (and anyone else who wants to) will have a big yellow wig on.. give him a wave, support each other and have some fun along the way.
Thank you for any support you can give so we can support the children.
